The Foundation: magic ring (mr)

The Perfect Start: Magic Ring (mr)
The magic ring is an adjustable loop that allows you to pull the center of your work tight, leaving no hole in the middle. It is essential for amigurumi and circular projects.

Steps:
1. Wrap: Loop the yarn around your fingers to create an "X".
2. Insert: Slide your hook under the first strand and over the second.
3. Pull & Twist: Pull the second strand under the first and give the hook a slight twist to create a loop.
4. Secure: Yarn over and pull through to make a single chain (ch 1) to secure the ring.
5. Work Into: Now, crochet your required number of stitches (e.g., 6 sc) into the center of the ring, working over both the loop and the yarn tail.
6. Pull Tight: Grab the short yarn tail and pull firmly to close the center hole completely.

Pro Tip: Don't pull the ring too tight until you've finished all the stitches in the first round!
