The Standard Start: Rnd 1: 8 sc in MR

This is the most common way to begin a crochet project. It creates a solid foundation of 8 stitches that can easily be expanded into a circle.

Steps:
1. Prepare the Magic Ring: Create your adjustable loop (Magic Ring).
2. Chain 1 (ch 1): Make one chain stitch to secure the ring. (This does not count as a stitch).
3. Work the Stitches: Insert your hook into the center of the ring and work 8 single crochets (sc) around the loop and the yarn tail.
4. Count Your "V"s: Look at the top of your work. You should see 8 "V" shapes.
5. Close the Ring: Pull the yarn tail firmly to close the center hole completely.
6. Mark the First Stitch: Place your stitch marker in the very first "V" you made to prepare for Round 2.
